Here's what the line actually is, and why we carry it.
The short version
Essense of Australia is an established international bridal house, founded by designer Martine Harris and named for the Western Australian landscape that shaped its aesthetic. The label leans romantic — layered lace, hand-applied beading, crystal detailing — but constructed with a modern eye rather than a nostalgic one.
The recent collections run toward corded lace A-lines with drop waists, structured Mikado ballgowns, satin fit-and-flares with beaded straps, and clean column gowns finished with pearl work. A lot of the current styles are built with detachable sleeves and other convertible elements, so one gown covers both a ceremony look and a reception look.
What sets it apart in the fitting room
Construction. It's the least glamorous thing to say about a bridal designer and the thing brides notice first when they put one on.
Essense gowns are built with real internal structure — sculpted corsetry, supportive boning, fabric with enough weight to hang properly rather than cling. The practical result is a gown that holds its shape while you move through a day that involves sitting, hugging several hundred people, and eventually dancing. Brides who've tried on a lot of unstructured samples usually feel the difference immediately.

Essense runs its core collection in US sizes 2 through 24. Beyond that, the label runs a dedicated program called EveryBody/EveryBride — designs from the same collections, engineered specifically for larger sizes rather than simply graded up from a smaller pattern.

Most of the bridal industry approaches plus sizing as an afterthought: take the sample, scale the numbers, ship it. What you get is a gown whose proportions were designed for a different body, with seams and support structures landing in the wrong places. Designing for the size means the corsetry, the neckline placement, and the fabric weight are all considered for the body actually wearing it.

Is it right for you?
Probably worth trying if you're drawn to romance with some substance behind it — you want lace and sparkle, but you also want a gown that feels engineered rather than draped. It photographs beautifully, which matters more than brides expect.
Possibly not your line if your instinct is toward the very minimal — unadorned crepe, architectural simplicity, nothing shiny. Essense has clean styles, but the house's heart is in detail and finish.
